The fashion world in Africa seems short of Men’s fashion but one needs to take a closer look.
Thus today we move to Rwanda, in the city of Kigali to the House of Tayo, a brain child of Matthew Rugamba. After completing his second year in college while he was in the United States of America, he was suddenly aware of his “growing affinity for the sights, sounds, experiences, and aesthetics of his home continent of Africa” and decided he wanted to share that with the world. He shared it with The House of Tayo. He said: “It is a creative vehicle through which I can capture, interpret, and purvey the bright colours, rich fabrics, intricate textiles, poise and elegance of African fashion.”
So The House of Tayo prides itself with being the window for the sophistication, style and flavor of the typical African man by way of contemporary, locally made attire. The House of Tayo seeks to capture a range of western style from the time of Motown to the traditional British tailoring so as to portray an elegant class of fashion with a very strong sense of the African heritage.
