[SPOTLIGHT] CAMER SPOKEN WORD ARTIST& SLAM PRINCESS LYDOL RELEASES FIRST SINGLE “D’UN AUTRE”

Official release of the first single of the Cameroonian spoken word artist Lydol “D’un autre” As a prelude to the release of his EP, Lydol announces the release her first single, entitled “D’un autre”. The spoken word artist from western Cameroon who has been in the studio since January realizes the dream of any artist to make and release her music and her world mixing slam, jazz, folk and soul.

Now available on iTunes and other online music platforms “D’un autre” is a single that delivers slam on the background of piano and African sounds. This single announces the release of the outcoming EP, the first one, entitled “À part”.

ABOUT LYDOL

Lydol whose real name is Dolly Sorel Nwafo, was born on 15 September 1994 in Yaoundé. She was  introduced to spoken word poetry  at College de la Retraite. From 2009 she took part in a national competition called Challenge Vacances. She made it to the semi-final in the karaoke category before being the national winner the following year (2010) in the slam category. In 2013, after several prizes won in Cameroon such as Ressort Jeunes Talents organized by the Francis Bebey Cultural Center and the Spoken Word Project organized by the Goethe Institut, she represented Cameroon in Angola as part of the pan-African meeting Spoken Word Project. In 2014, she was the flag bearer of Cameroon in Durban, South Africa during the 18th edition of the Poetry Africa Festival. In 2016 she was Cameroon’s slammer in the pan-African competition, Africa’s got talent in Abidjan.

Lydol is the organizer of Science Slam Cameroon in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Kamerun since 2015. She also serves as the moderator of the quarterly writing workshop “Style haut à stylo” and heads the the jury of the inter school competition of slam “Slam school party”. She is a tireless slam poetry promoter.  She hasn’t just stopped in Cameroon. This 2017, She has taken part in Babi Slam Festival in Ivory Cost and the “Scenes Experimentales” in Senegal and devotes a large part of her stay teach Master Classes of Slam.

Member of  “Collectif 237 Paroles” she believes that the spoken word poetry goes beyond the intimate setting of the workshops and slam venues. She holds holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Yaoundé II and begins his doctoral thesis.
