The Camer music scene is buzzing with new releases. One of the highlights of Thursday, November 3rd was the release of the video of “Stand Strong” which has been on replay all week!
Olgha Nkweti is a Camer singer, songwriter and poet based in Yaoundé. Passionate about music from a very young age, she began singing professionally at the age of 17 and has worked as backup vocalist for a host of artists around the country.
Following the release of a first single in 2013 titled “You”she focused on creating beautifully crafted covers of popular songs which she translated to Pidgin-English like Adele’s “Hello” and Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man”
After a three-year hiatus, she is back with a track with powerful message titled “Stand Strong”. This track is an afro-pop blend whose lyrics portray strength and resilience in the face of all obstacles.Her debut video is directed by the trio; Yonka Herbert, Chuzih Dadido and Shashan Singz and set in the picturesque hills of Bamenda.
Her strong vocals and versatile artistic repertoire make her one of the artists on my list of Artists to Watch in 2017. As Nelson Mandela once said “the greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall”.Enjoy “Stand Strong” and let her words push you to “Stand Strong” against all odds!
