Hello people…It is Thursday…TGIT..Hope August started on a good note…May the new month bring you good tidings.. In 237 news this week…University students in Bamenda & Yaounde hit the streets (in triumphant jubilation :-)) to show appreciation to the President of the Republic H.E. Paul Biya for the promise of laptops. …..#LeCamerCestLeCamer…[Why they receive the laptop dem, they go do how eh :-)]

Last week, the “E National higher edudation” initiative was launched with a presidential decree. 500,000 University students will receive a laptop in the upcoming academic year. This initiative will be financed by the Exhim Bank of here. Read the details here. As much as I want to applaud this initiative I have more questions than answers…I know…… this “L’economie Digitale” must happen by hook or crook.. :-). How sustainable is this? Is this a rolling initiative or a one time thing? Will the students be given some basic computer literacy classes? Will they have internet access? Aren’t there other options to improve computer literacy? E.g. Having equipped computer labs with internet access dotted across campus… Have your say…. Keep reppin’ 237. Y.M. IRepCamer
